More On JewishGen

JewishGen have been hard at work adding more records to their site. In addition to the new records reported on the 6th of November (see below), JewishGen also recently added the following:

Bessarabia:

• 3,109 records (with 1,332 photos) were added for the Soroca New Jewish Cemetery;
• 24 records(13 photos) were added for the Secureni Jewish Cemetery;
• 1,033 records added to the Podolia revisions project;
• The "Jews involved in public life in Bessarabia" database was updated and now include 935 records for Jews who held public positions; and,
• New: "List of Surnames in 19th century Revision Lists for Bessarabia". This new database has about 6,100 surnames from 98,000 Revision Lists.

KehilaLinks:

• 14 pages were updated last month, and, for the first time, a page has been created for Sydney, Australia

Here are some of the new records that had been recently reported:

Ukraine:

• JewishGen have acquired all vital records available on LDS microfilm from 11 of the top 13 Ukraine Sig towns (ranked by the number of researchers on the JewishGen Family Finder).

Yizkor Books:

• Three (3) new books have been published through our "Yizkor Books in Print" initiative; and,
• Three (3) new translation projects were initiated, for:
  • Davyd-Haradok, Belarus (David Horodoker Memorial book);
  • Pure Soldiers or Sinister Legion; and,
  • Slonim, Belarus (The 51st Brigade: The History of the Jewish Partisan Group from the Slonim Ghetto).
