23andMe Now Fully Available in New York and Maryland

On 10 November 2015 I was informed by 23andMe that "at this time 23andMe is able to process samples collected and mailed from New York. Please feel free to have clients order to New York and ship samples to back to our laboratory from New York at your convenience."

According to a story carried by NewsWise (see story below), 23andMe announced today that they have overcome hurdles prohibiting them from accepting and processing samples sent from the States of New York and Maryland. According to the article, 23andMe can now accept and process samples sent from both New York and from Maryland.

Previously, 23andMe has able to ship test kits to customers in New York and Maryland, but customers in these states would have to have their test kits sent back to 23andMe from another state. This is no longer necessary.

I don't know if they jumped the gun back in November, or if they are just now making the announcement official now that they have approval from both States, but I'm sure that this will be a welcome change for new customers in these New York and Maryland. Now, if 23andMe would only drop the price for the test kit to something a little more reasonable for those interested in the use of the DNA test for genealogical purposes.
