DNA Testing Reunites Sisters After 50 Years

The following is a very nice, and very short story about how two siblings, each unaware of the other's existence having been abandoned by their parents 50 years ago, were reunited through DNA testing with AncestryDNA.

Aside from being a fun curiosity, autosomal DNA testing can be a very useful tool for a genealogist, but it is important to understand that it is almost only one tool among many. It is rare to find an immediate family member, or even a previously unknown 1st or 2nd cousin right out of the gate. Ordinarily the process of locating lost, relatively close family members takes a more circuitous path. The process can be tedious and complicated, and may require DNA testing of multiple individuals. It can also be remarkably rewarding when the goal is achieved, and the mystery is solved.
